2019 Cuvee Lucille
65% Grenache and 35% Syrah
At Charlie's Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA, we're privileged to work with a vineyard that truly expresses the land it grows on. It's a south-facing slope filled with river rocks and limestone terraces. Our wine, a nod to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, blends 65% Grenache with 35% Syrah, a tribute to my beloved TuTu who played a significant role in my upbringing. We age it on the lees for 22 months in a mix of seasoned French and American Oak before it's ready to enjoy.
Tasting Notes
Inhale the scent of this wine and you'll be met with the vibrant smell of cherry pie, accented with a touch of cinnamon and white pepper, thanks to the Grenache. Syrah brings depth to the flavor, with dark plum compote, a hit of black pepper, the sweetness of cola, and a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste. Its bold spice and structure make it an exceptional companion to holiday favorites like a spiced roast turkey or a savory beef tenderloin with rosemary.
