2021 Grenache Clone 362
This is hands down my favorite Grenache of the vintage. Clone 362 is the lowest yielding clone from Chateau Neuf du Pape, with its dark skin and small berries planted on a steep limestone laden hillside at 1400-foot elevation. The wine was aged for 22 months in 300L seasoned AP John barrels coopered in Australia.
Tasting Notes:
High toned aromas of spicy cherry, rhubarb, and raspberry, along with rich scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, red licorice, sandalwood, and blood orange. Ripe flavors of raspberry, grenadine, rhubarb, and olallieberry, transition to a lush core packed with rip cherry, cola, herbs de Provence, red licorice, bakers spice, vanilla, and mineral. The wine finishes with tight, sweet tannins that last for minutes after.
